Artificial Life App Reviews

Exactly what I expected 

What would you expect, if you buy yourself an App which is called Artificial Life? Of course a life sim... And you get one for only 0,79€  Of course this is NOT a game, but I can spend hours and hours watching virtual life evolve before my very eyes! I expect some critic voices around here, soon  But I simply love this App  Thank you very, very much for it 

I like it!

Its like Darwin Bots but simpler. I really like it. Maybe it is possible to implement and/ or commands to give the game more complexity.

Great app!

Absolutely amazing app. Its fascinating to see natural selection in action. Keep up great work!

Glitch?

There seems to be a glitch after you change all the protazoids chromosomes and start to run the game the protazoid you just worked on disapears. any one else notice that?

Very cool

However, sometimes the Protozoa disappears, not by being eaten and other times, the camera flies to oblivion and you cant go back. One other problem is that, the map is beyond the iPod screen, if you could make a petri dish mode where theres a small dish with the protozoans in it and no sun.

Amazing!

I really enjoy watching thoses little life form! It a very good idea!! I would like to see a couple of features in the next version (if there will be any) 1. A little protozoid editor in which we can edit the size, style (e.g. way of moving, color) and behavior. Then the ability to spawn one or a group of protozoid into their world. 2. The ability to follow automaticaly the Moves on a single protozoid. Like a "click and follow" so we can follow the oldest protozoid or any clicked protozoid. And also maybe info about that selected protozoid (e.g. Health status, age) 3. Visuals/animation of the protozoid while its attacking another protozoid. (e.g. Blinking or vibrating protozoid) Its hard to see which one is attacking the other. Same thing with the reproduction. 4. Maybe change the black font with something like water... I dont know lol! Very good job on that one! I really like to have this on my iphone!!! Thanks!! ----------------------------------- Update 1.5 Thanks for the new features such As the editor! The only two things i would apreciate a lot would be: 1. An option to save a protozoid behavior profile in the editor... Its just not cool when you take 10 minutes to edit a protozoid when he get killed 2 seconds later! And also an option to spawn any number of protozoid of a given profiles. 2. When you lock a protozoid, i would like to see the camera folowing his move. Thanks for your great work! -------------- Update 2.0.1 Very nice update! You gave me all i asked! Im a happy customer!

Amazing!

This game is excellent! I love having it on my iPod! Just a few things Id like to see though: 1.I know this game is based on simple rules makig complex behaviours, but how about more complex behaviours available? Such as group or solitary mentality? I have been able to create groups, but its fairly difficult and seems more random than anything else. 2. Customizing the appearance or colours, and how your protozoa responds to the other colours, such as cooperating or enemies. 3. In survival instead of following the individual, how about following the race as a whole? Otherwise it seems the mating is kind of redundant. Once again amazing game!!!

One of the best!

This is probably THE game that I play most on my iPod. It never seems to get boring! People whove written have already mentioned things in the next update, so I basically echo them. It would be cool if you could customize thr color and shape+tail of your protazoa. And if you could choose to see different members of your race in survival mode. Assigning random name generators would work well with race cameras. But overall, excellent app. If you like games of life simulation, or virtual pets, or if you like something different, or if you like to watch things live and grow on their own, then this game is a must buy.

Excellent game

Artificial Life is an excellent game out of the box for those that enjoy the AI programming genre. The interface is very simple to use and learn. Even the most novice gamer will be able to get going quickly and experiment with different approach to make the Protozoa survive. I have had no issues with the current version (2.1.4) and all features are working as described. This game will be even better with a few extra enhancements. 1. The help section needs to explain the concepts of relatives/foreigners, scavengers and predators, and how "finding a mate" selects another protozoa. 2. I would like when my Protozoa dies not just know how it died but what it was doing when it died (what gene was being executed). 3. My high score is an age of 3180. I would like to share this online and see how I compare. Id like to see the genes of other players that made the top 10/100. The games needs an "online community" aspect which I hope iPhone OS 4.0 will allow easily. 4. There needs to be an online arena mode where multiple players can challenge each others protozoa in survival mode. 5. In survival mode, mating is useless unless you found a way to have the decendents contribute to your survival. I am still looking for one. If the game reported the percentage of the chromozones in the population that are from my protozoa, it would give a new dimension to the survival mode game and it would almost be a better high score parameter. How long can you survive and how much of the population did you influence? This is in fact the real challenge of artifcial life, not simple survival of the individual but of the species. Great game!

Seems buggy

Seems buggy. My guy keeps getting killed by the sun when hes nowhere near the sun.

Its all about kids!

Its an interesting game but it misses the main point behind evolution: the winner is not the one who lives longest, but the one who establishes the longest bloodline. The game should track your protozoas children, grandchildren, etc. He who dies with the most kids wins!

Almost perfect

Scoring should include DNA concentration of the population. If that were added, as well as IF + AND commands this would be best game/app ever!!!

Could use a graphics update, but very fun

Not much else to add. Very interesting game, I agree with the suggestion of making bloodlines more obvious. Besides that I have nothing to add :) well worth 99c

Glitchy Behaviour but Still Fun

My 3GS has been experiencing shaking graphics where the visuals are effectively doubled. This isnt happening on my 4S. Both my 3GS and 4S experience occasions where the Protozoa seems to give up and not follow and rules, just sitting and sleeping until it starves. They also often ignore higher level rules. This seems to be a recent phenomenon, perhaps since the last app update. Both my devices are running iOS 5.1. This is still a good app. Just glitchy lately.

Great life sim

This is a great simulator. Its really fun to leave them overnight or something and see which species dominated.

Super interesting

This is one of the most original games Ive ever played. Theres a lot to like. I think you have to be a certain kind of person to appreciate it for what it is.

Love it! But it needs a update!

I waste so much time on this game but it is in some serious need up an update and perhaps more content. I would give it five stars because how much I enjoy it but with the crashing every time I try to import a save I have to take one off. Just give it a quick bump to bring this game back up to date.

Five-Minute Wonder

It was mildly interesting for the first five minutes. Now its boring and deleted. I could have given 99c to charity.

So crazy cool

Love this game or simulation. The idea and consept is so fantastic I would have its babies. Pure genious. Just 1 thing missing: the ability to alter the chromazone rules ofcorse. But Im sure ur working on that. Some more inneraction would be nice too but deffanatly heading in the right direction.
